Hi, I’m Sara.

My professional journey started with a solid foundation in Psychology – both at undergraduate and graduate levels, specializing in Counseling and Organizational Behavior. I began my career in coaching and education, where I honed my skills as a career coach and curriculum developer, focusing on emotional intelligence for young learners.

A series of serendipitous events led me to over a decade of experience in HR and People & Culture roles across diverse sectors – Tech, Financial Services, Web Services, Automotive, and Renewable Energy. My diverse roles allowed me to see an organization from multiple angles. I began to notice how work could become more engaging for employees and drive better outcomes for the business. This led to roles focused on building and scaling various HR initiatives. What I was missing was the direct impact on individuals and teams. And that’s what Avra Coaching brings.

The work that I get to do through Avra allows me to make an impact on organizations from the place that I most value – the heart of every organization – its people.

I am a strong advocate of lifelong learning and empowering people with the tools and resources they need to do well and be well. In addition to my work at Avra, I teach Psychology at Laney College in Oakland, Ca., and I facilitate courses for Cornell University’s online leadership certificate programs.

A Convergence of Expertise and Passion

My career spans various industries, equipping me with a comprehensive understanding of human behavior and motivation. With my expertise in tools and modalities like Designing Your Life, Human-Centered Design Thinking, Resilience Coaching, Counseling, and Hypnotherapy, I weave aspects of design thinking, mindfulness, and mindset coaching into my practice. My project and change management skills ensure that our engagements are goal-driven and structured for tangible results.

I believe that our careers should be a source of joy in our lives. I believe that workplaces can and should be designed to promote community, connection, and collaboration. And I have seen the positive impact of thoughtful change management in growing organizations.

I created Avra to bring best practices and tools for career design, team-building, workplace experience, employee engagement, and change management to individuals and organizations.

My clients bring their talent, motivation, and vision. I help them with thoughtful planning and execution to get results.

I can’t wait to see what we build together!
